Woodfiring August 2013

This is only our second firing after moving to Keighley, three years ago and having to completely rebuild our old woodkiln.

The kiln fired really well on this occasion. it reached 1280 C with very little problem, despite a gap in the roof. The kiln expanded at temperature and 3 of the roof bricks dropped.

Brian is putting angle iron and threaded metal bars around the top and bottom to stop it moving.

To complete a quick fix for the next firing and to keep the costs down we are putting a ceramic fibre roof on.

The next firing will be soon!
